1,000 runners expected for Jan. 27 Big Beach Marathon

Gulf Shores’ fourth annual Big Beach Marathon will be held Sunday, January 27 starting at 8 a.m. at the newly renovated Public Beach in front of The Hang Out. More than 1000 runners representing 44 States, Canada, Poland and Brazil are expected to participate. Local favorite singer songwriter Lisa Christian will sing our National Anthem.
Boasting a flat and fast certified Boston Marathon Qualifier course, the marathon reveals beautiful scenery as it runs through the paved trail system of our Gulf State Park before crossing the Beach Blvd. pedestrian bridge and finishing the last 1.2 miles on Beach Blvd. with great views of the Gulf of Mexico at the finish. Local professional photographer Shelley Patterson of C-Shelz Photography will be at the finish line to capture the moment as each runner crosses.
