11 Baldwin municipalities earn Tree City USA designation

Eleven Baldwin County municipalities are among the more than 3,400 communities that have made the commitment to becoming a Tree City USA for 2017. The cities Bay Minette, Daphne, Elberta, Fairhope, Foley, Gulf Shores, Loxley, Magnolia Springs, Orange Beach, Robertsdale and Silverhill – have achieved Tree City USA status by meeting four core standards of sound urban forestry management, including maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry and celebrating Arbor Day.
Fairhope achieved the designation for the 33rd consecutive year, with Bay Minette (32 years), Daphne (29 years), Foley (36 years), Gulf Shores (30 years) and Loxley (33 years) close behind.
