85th Anniversary celebration April 7 at Bellingrath Gardens

April is a busy month at Mobile’s Bellingrath Gardens and Home, with festivities that include an 85th anniversary celebration and a full schedule of Easter events.
Celebrate the 85th anniversary of the date that the Gardens first opened to the public on April 7. Guests may visit the Gardens at a special anniversary rate of $8.50 per person. The Stillman College Concert Choir will perform a concert on the South Terrace at 1 p.m. Members of the Friends of Bellingrath will receive a 20% discount in the Gift Shop. The Magnolia Café will serve a special “Belle Camp” fish-fry lunch with fresh catch from the area in honor of Walter Bellingrath’s 1918 purchase of his Fowl River fishing camp, which eventually became Bellingrath Gardens and Home. Guests will also receive a free piece of birthday cake with their lunch purchase. Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Details: 251-973-2217, or visit bellingrath.org.
Thousands of Easter eggs will be scattered across the Great Lawn for children to collect on April 8. After the egg hunt, families are encouraged to enjoy other Easter activities within the Gardens. Registration is required for the Breakfast with the Easter Bunny. Admission to the Easter Egg Hunt is $13 for adults and $7.50 for children ages 5-12 will be charged. Children ages 4 and younger are always admitted free.
