9th Annual Cove Dog Olympics Oct. 1 at Pirates Cove

The 9th Annual Cove Dog Olympics, a fundraiser for Furrever Homes Animal Rescue, will be held Oct. 1 at Pirates Cove Marina and Restaurant in Josephine (6664 County Rd.95).
Owners can enter canines in one or all of the six official events. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and events include a weiner dog race (10:30 a.m.), water sprint (11 a.m.), best trick (noon), dock diving (1 p.m.), Seattle fetch (2 p.m.) and hamburger eating (3 p.m). Admission is free to the public and event registration is $5 per event. Furrever Homes will have dogs up for adoption at the Olympics.
An all-volunteer, foster home based animal rescue organization, Furever Homes’ vision is to save animals of all sizes and all species by placing them into loving, forever homes. The majority of the animals in its care come from shelters, where overcrowding and overpopulation leads to the euthanasia of millions of healthy, friendly pets every year.
The group is committed to providing its animals with the best possible care while acclimating them to life outside of a shelter and providing any and all veterinary care needed while the animals wait for their furrever homes.
The Rescue, while promoting the need for spaying and neutering, also seeks to break down the stereotypes of many bully breeds and often takes in animals with special needs.
