‘Bama leads drive to help Virgin Island hurricane victims
Cargo plane loaded with supplies on its way to help those hit worst

The Flora-Bama has teamed up with friends in the business and Kenny Chesney’s No Shoes Nation Foundation to charter a very large cargo plane to take supplies to help those suffering from the worst of the devastation left in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.
“Our loved ones and friends in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands are in bad shape and are suffering,’’ said Flora-Bama co-owner John McInnis, who will be on a cargo plane heading to St. Croix on Sept. 14. “There is very little food, water, medical supplies and other essentials left on the islands of St John and Jost Van Dyke. The situation if very serious and there is little to no communication on the island,’’ he said. “There are thousands of American tourists stuck down there. While we will continue to support and pray for our neighbors in Texas and Florida, the people on St John and Jost Van Dyke are in immediate need of help.’’
A FloraBama Relief Planes To St John gofundme page opened on Sept. 11 had raised $24,895 of its $100k goal within the first 23 hours.
“I am flying down to make sure all the funds are spent properly and I will personally make sure that every single penny is spent on jet fuel, and flying supplies down there,’’ McInnis said. “We are buying out Sam’s and Wal-Mart and wherever else we can get this stuff to take down there.
“Let’s continue to help our friends in Texas and Florida who are going through a tough time,’’ McInnis added. “The infrastructure in the United States will allow them to get everything they need fairly quickly. Our friends down in the islands don’t have that. They don’t have power. They’re low on food and water. They don’t have dog food and cat food to feed their pets. The situation is dire down there. We’ve already sent planes down there with supplies everything from food and water, cellular phones, dog food, medical supplies, you name
