The Denim & Diamonds fundraiser for Alzheimers

Gulf Coast Lodge #2782 used a $2,500 grant from the Grand Lodge to organize a fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association. Many Lodge volunteers labored for three months creating decorations, canvassing the local community to obtain sponsors and donations, then collecting donated items for an action. A local auctioneer donated his time and expertise to the event. The lodge coordinated with the City of Foley to use the Foley Civic Center for the event. The event was advertised on the large LED marquis outside the Civic Center. It took a full day to set up the Civic Center in preparation for the event. Tickets were sold to lodge members and to the community. At the conclusion, the Lodge raised $11,000 for Alzheimer’s research. A check presentation by Ralph Alore, ER, to Angela Plummer, Community Outreach Coordinator, Alzheimer’s Association, Alabama, Florida Panhandle, was later held at the lodge.
