Eden & Wacky Women combine for a special Wounded Warrior Week

By Jimmie Sue Walters
Monday, September 19 was a very special day thanks to April Adams, property manager of Eden Condominiums, who for the 2nd year hosted selected Wounded Warrior Heroes and their families for a week’s stay at Eden. April worked with her condo owners to get these weeks donated. Thank you so much! Local businesses in both Alabama and Florida have helped by donating massages, boat rides, tickets to the zoo and many other items so the families could come and have an affordable, fun, and stress free week at the beach. Last year, April asked the Wonderful Wacky Women to partner with her for a fun evening at the Eden pool. We jumped on the idea knowing the good it would bring. Vietnam vet Jim Martin, chef and food manager at Perdido Key Sports Bar, roasted a whole pig and 20 lbs. of pulled pork. Congressman Jeff Miller sent personalized letters to each of the warriors. Suzy Toronto, who grew up in a Military family, gave a touching speech honoring the heroes, letting them know how much we care. Benny from Orange Beach Publix donated a beautiful cake big enough to serve the entire crowd. It was delicious. Brian Webster of Key Necessities donated goody bags for each of the children. Rhonda Hart and Elaine Petty (Smokin Elvis) kicked up some mighty fine music, and a good time was had by all. Mighty Man, Mark Webster, was one of the 25 heroes selected. It was good for both him and his wife Darlene to be a part of this. As they spent the week together, Mark was able to share helpful information with his fellow warriors, and Darlene shared information with the ladies about Ovarian cancer and what exactly the WWW is about. A big thanks to anyone who put their hands, time, money or blessings into making this special week happen. Red, White & Blue, We Love You. April Adams, you are a little fireball. Thanks for all you do! Pictured: WWW Night during Wounded Warrior Week at Eden Condos.
