Foley Middle School STEM Career Expo

Foley Middle School STEM Career Expo
Foley Middle School, a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) academy since 2012, recently hosted a STEM Career Expo encouraging students to explore the diversity and opportunities of careers in the STEM fields. Demonstrations, exhibits, hands-on models and photographs were available to expose students to the multitude of career choices and highlight the skills necessary to fill those jobs. School Principal Danny McDuffie had a vision to bring STEM careers in the community on campus for a hands-on experience. A collaborative effort between Foley Middle, local businesses and the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce brought 36 local businesses to the Expo. McDuffie continues to work to connect businesses to the school. “The ability for our students to see these careers as a possibility for them and their future is phenomenal,’’ he said. “We are thankful for the interaction with businesses in our area and are looking forward to next year.”
