Ghost cruises scheduled through Oct. 28 at Caribe Marina

If you’re looking for a spooky start to this year’s Halloween Festivities, look no further than Ghost Cruises at Caribe Marina, held Oct. 2-28 at 7 and 8 p.m. For $20 per person, guests will embark on a 45 minute cruise into Perdido Pass — this fully immersive experience will delight riders as they step into a tale of Spanish pirates, lost treasure, tortured ghosts, mutiny, betrayal and murder.
Based on a true story, the fictionalized account of Spanish pirates in Perdido Bay will delve into pirate adventures, deathly deeds and hauntings. The 40-person fishing boat will be outfitted for a 17th Century buccaneer experience and tour guide Jessica Langston will offer insight into this cut throat page in coastal history.
Langston, a former docent at the Bragg-Mitchell Mansion in historic mid-town Mobile, will combine her background as a writer, poet, playwright and actress to bring this vivid story to life.
“Get ready to learn about the naturally perilous geography of our Southern home, along with lost pieces of history, tormented and twisted characters, blood lust and almighty greed with its plethora of repercussions,” she said. “This tale of untimely death, coupled with the unnerving darkness of nighttime on the water is sure to give guests just the fright they’re looking for this October.”
Chris Logel, general manager of Caribe Marina, explained that next month’s Ghost Cruises are the first of many Halloween events at Caribe Marina.
“We will also provide face painting and family picture options so come in your spookiest outfit,’’ he said. “We are also excited about our brand new trick-or-treat marina style event that is similar to trunk-or-treat, but with boats instead of cars. That event will take place the weekend before Halloween. For us at Caribe Marina, this is just the beginning. We are planning additional fun and spooky events to add to our lineup next year.”
He said that he envisioned this spooky tour and subsequent events at the marina as a way to give back to the community.
“This is our fun spin on a ghost tour, one that will appeal to people of all ages,’’ he said. “Our hope is that the community will enjoy some spooky fun and we would have the honor of joining families in traditions for years to come.”
