Gulf Shores Starfish Swim Team competes at Al. Special Olympics

Congratulations to the Gulf Shores Starfish Swim Team who competed in the Alabama Special Olympic Summer Games at Troy University on Friday May 19 and Saturday, May 20. There were over 1,000 athletes participating ranging in age from 8 to 67. The Starfish are the only Special Olympic Swim Team in Baldwin County. The team competed in the following events: 25 Meter Freestyle:  Gold Medal: Emily Evans and Jacob Hobbs; 25 Meter Backstroke:  Gold Medal: Emily Evans and Jacob Hobbs; 50 Meter Freestyle:  Gold Medal: Mary Johnston, Sissy Flanigan and Chad Phelps;  Silver Medal: Ryan Miller and Fred Johnston;  Bronze Medal: Molly Owens and Patrick Cronin; 50 Meter Backstroke: Gold Medal: Sissy Flanigan and Ryan Miller;  Silver Medal: Mary Johnston, Molly Owens, Fred Johnston and Patrick Cronin. 50 Meter Breaststroke:  Silver Medal: Chad Phelps. 4X25 Freestyle Relay Team:  Silver Medal: Sissy Flanigan, Fred Johnston, Chad Phelps and Molly Owens;  4th Place: Patrick Cronin, Emily Evans, Mary Johnston and Ryan Miller. The Starfish meet every Saturday morning at the David L. Bodenhamer Center in Gulf Shores. They are a 12 month swim program.
