Jackie Dahlman bring sacred sounds to GSUMC on Feb. 17

A variety of star-studded concerts, including GSUMC organist Jackie Dahlman and her guest, flutist Elisa Lyle, who will will bring Sacred Sounds on the fully-restored sanctuary pipe organ on Sunday, Feb 17.
Well-known and loved area organist Jackie Dahlman will be at the 3 manuals of the fully-restored Reuter pipe organ. Mrs. Dahlman’s extensive background includes organ seminars in a number of European countries where she has played organs in Westminster Abbey, Notre Dame Cathedral, Strasbourg Cathedral and the Royal chapel at Versailles. In 2017, she was among a group of organists permitted for the first time ever, to play the organ at St. Peters Cathedral at the Vatican in Rome, Italy. Among Mrs. Dahlman’s selections will be Toccatta from the 5th Symphony by Widor and Every Time I Feel the Spirit by Utterbach.
Also performing on the Sacred Sounds program will be flautist Elisa Lyle, organists Benjamin Rollins and Irene Walker and baritone soloist Cody Johnson. Now a resident of Gulf Shores, Elisa Lyle studied piano at an early age, but decided on a musical career in middle school when she discovered the flute. She retired from a military career as Master Sergeant and has the rare distinction of playing for both President Reagan and Pope John Paul II. She is now the principal flutist for two regional Georgia orchestras.
