Little Lagoon Preservation Society quarterly meeting slated April 20

The Little Lagoon Preservation Society will hold its quarterly membership meeting on Thursday, April 20 at 5:30 p.m. at the Gulf Shores Activity Center, located at 260 Clubhouse Dr.
The first half hour of the meeting provides an opportunity to meet, mingle and enjoy refreshments. The program begins at 6 p.m., and will include a question-and-answer period.
Eric L. Sparks (pictured), a professor at Mississippi State University and a coastal ecology specialist with Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant, will speak about living shoreline solutions vs. hardened shorelines around Little Lagoon.
Sparks will speak not only about the importance of living shorelines to the health of Little Lagoon but will emphasize what private property owners can do if they are experiencing shoreline loss/erosion. Owners will have an opportunity to discuss and ask questions about their property and possible solutions based on their own situation.
