Loran Chavez of Fairhope wins Shrimp Festival poster contest

Loran Chavez (pictured) of Fairhope has submitted the winning National Shrimp Festival poster for 2018. Artists must incorporate the festival themes of art, food, and music, the festival location, and the year and name of the festival. The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber received 32 entries from all over the country. Chavez is no stranger to the Annual National Shrimp Festival, she was also the winner of the 2013 poster contest. Ms. Chavez was presented with a prize of $1000 and will be present at the fest to sign posters and souvenirs for festival attendees.
“The poster represents the Shrimp Festival as a whole,” said festival chairman Spencer Cade. “It has become an important brand for each official year and serves as the unique piece for that year.”
The National Shrimp Festival will be held Oct. 11-14 at Gulf Shores Public Beach. More info: myshrimpfest.com.
