The 3rd Annual Miss Coastal Alabama Pageant and the Miss Coastal Alabama Outstanding Teen Pageant will be held on Sunday, September 25 at 2 p.m. at Faulkner State University in Bay Minette. The pageant is a preliminary competition for both Teens and Misses of the Miss America Scholarship Program.
The 10 Miss Coastal Alabama contestants (ages 17-24) will compete in interview, evening gown, swimsuit and talent competitions. The five Miss Coastal Alabama Teen contestants (13-17) will compete in interview, evening gown, fitness and talent.
“We are thrilled with the girls. They are working hard and we have a fun program,’’ said pageant director Karla Hardin. “Our choreographer always comes up with a fun routine that reflects where we live on the Gulf Coast.’’
Karlin said the current Miss Coastal Alabama, Bailey Kennon of Orange Beach, and Miss Coastal Alabama Outstanding Teen, Lauren Kent of Mobile, will be at the pageant to perform, speak and crown the new winners.
“I’ve loved seeing them grow over the past year,’’ Hardin said. “And Bailey did such a great job bringing awareness to the program down on the Coast. She will tell you herself how she’s grown from her participation in the program.
“It’s a great pageant for first time competitors because we are new here on the Coast,’’ Hardin added. “I’m always anxious myself to see whom I am going to be working with for the next year.’’
