Oct. 1 Shindig in the Sand will benefit Louisiana flood victims

Annual Flora-Bama party will showcase Louisiana musicians
Instead of celebrating the musical riches of the Gulf Coast, this year’s Flora-Bama Shindig in The Sand, scheduled Saturday, Oct. 1 from noon ‘til close on the tent stage at the Lounge on the Line, will feature Louisiana musicians, many of who were displaced by the devastating floods in that state.
The Shindig, being held in partnership with Nic’s Bar (located in Gonzales, LA), will include a large silent auction and other fun ways to raise money to aid Louisiana’s National Guard flood victims.
Donations raised will benefit the Louisiana National Guardsmen affected by the recent flooding through the LANG Office of Family Programs. The National Guard was called up to help their community, giving them no time to prepare their own families or personal properties. They were not released from their duty until critical recovery efforts were already underway.
The auction will begin at 1 p.m. and bidding will close out at 4:30 p,m. The Shindig is a family friendly event until 5:30 p.m., and regular Flora-Bama cover charges ($5 for 21 and older & $15 for those 18 to 20) will be in effect after 6 p.m.
