Operation Patriot 59 at Robertsdale High
Students in the Robertsdale High School NJROTC and its leader, Petty Officer First Class Theodoro, a naval science instructor at the school, placed 5,425 flags on the school’s front lawn as part of Operation Patriot 59, the school’s new annual initiative to bring more attention to the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedom. “Every year we’ll commemorate a different war. This year, the 65th anniversary of the Korean War, we will place 5,425 flags on our school’s front lawn. Each flag represents 10 service members who died,’’ Theodoro said. “We hope that impacts people in a a very significant way after seeing the toll. We will also hoist a POW/MIA flag in remembrance of the 7,704 unaccounted-for Americans of that War. We will have everything in place by Memorial Day weekend.’’

He didn’t want to talk about himself, just the friends that he lost and those that remain unaccounted for,’’ Theodoro noted on facebook. “He is 99 years old and still going strong, this man is what it’s all about. These kids think the world of him. Thank you Mr. Ed!’
