Organist Zelek in concert May 7 at Holy Spirit Episcopal
Organist Greg Zelek (pictured) will perform a concert on the new Johannus 470 organ at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church on Sunday, May 7 at 4 p.m. The public is invited to attend the concert and the reception following in the parish hall.
The custom built Johannus 470 was purchased as a gift to Holy Spirit by members of the parish. Holy Spirit Organist and Choirmaster Daphne Grimsley described the new organ as a “dream come true” for her and the church choir.
Recognized as one of the most exciting young organist in America, Zelek has performed with the MET Orchestra in Carnegie Hall, the New World Symphony Orchestra and the Miami Symphony Orchestra. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Juilliard School of Music where he is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma in Music. The winner of many national Organ Competitions, in 2016 he was chosen as one of the top”20 under 30″ organists by Diapason Magazine which selects the most successful young artists in the field. Zelek is currently the Music Director and Organist at The Episcopal Church of St. Matthew and St. Timothy in New York.
