Colors presented by a US Naval Air Training Center unit will open the annual
Patriotic Concert in the sanctuary of Gulf Shores United Methodist Church on
Sunday, July 3 at 7 p.m. The concert is free and the public is welcome. Reserved seating is available for all concert season supporters. A
free-will offering will be taken to support the K9s for Warriors (k9sforwarriors. org), which provides service dogs for veterans.
The GSUMC Chancel Choir and instrumentalists under the direction of Director
of Worship Arts Cody Johnson will present patriotic favorites including “In
Flanders Fields,” the US Navy hymn “Eternal Father Strong to Save” and the
traditional “Salute to the Armed Forces” recognizing all military veterans.
Soloist Rick Totty of Birmingham will present several well-loved Elvis
numbers including “An American Trilogy”.
Popular local soloists will include Marsha Guyer, Barbara Shepard, Cody
Johnson and others. Narration will be provided by Jan Hinnen and Bob
Stoddard. Jackie Dahlman is the accompanist.
