Ron Nessler retirement gig Feb. 7 at The Cove in G.S.

Ron Nessler (pictured), a veteran musician who has been wintering in the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach area for the last 26 years, will play his retirement gig at The Cove Bar & Grill (131 Cove Ave.) in Gulf Shores on Feb. 7 from 6-9 p.m.
The veteran drummer, who will be 85 in February, will be joined on stage by Burt Kimbel and Marvin Holtman.
Over the years, Ron has played at local bistros past and present, including The Pass, Adolph’s, Zeke’s Landing, The Louisiana Pantry, Paradise Cove, The Hangout and Live Baits’ I and 11.
Ron has also played extensively at The Cove’s sister restaurant, Cottons in Orange Beach.
Many of his snowbird friends remember the dances he organized at the Orange Beach Senior Center in years past.
Ron said he is proud to have worked with many great local musicians in addition to Kimbel, Holtman and Tom Cherry from the Boots Randolf Band. That list includes Oscar Carr, Scott Langhoff, Jim Andrews and John Brust.
“I wants to thank all my friends and musicians who have supported me all these years,’’ Ron said.
A lifelong musician, Ron played professionally as drummer and vocalist in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky areas before he started wintering here.
