The Sandspur Band at GSUMC on Feb. 8

The well-known and loved bluegrass/gospel group The Sandspur Band will be in concert on February 8 at 7pm in the sanctuary of Gulf Shores United Methodist Church, 1900 Gulf Shores Parkway in Gulf Shores. Started in 2002, The Sandspur Band is a nurturing ministry of the Gulf Shores United Methodist Church. Over the years, they have taken their special brand of popular gospel music into homes of shut-ins as well as nursing homes and assisted living facilities. They also continue their tradition of frequent performances for numerous local church and community functions. Among the concert favorites you’ll hear are songs like
“Wayfaring Stranger” and “Sweet Beulah Land.” Tickets at $10 pp are available weekdays from 9am to noon in Thee Coffee Shop in the Winn Dixie Plaza and also at the door preceding the concert. Other GSUMC Concerts
The Sandspur Band is followed by the USO So Modern show on February 9, Elvis Remembered with Foley’s own Shane Tucker on February 12, the SOZO Children’s Choir on February 15-16, Sacred Sounds Organ recital with Jackie Dahlman and Tom Helms on February 18 and the Four Winds Barbershop Chorus on February 19. The series concludes on February 23 and 24 with Stained Glass Bluegrass concerts featuring four well-known and loved bluegrass gospel bands. All concerts are at 7pm (except Sacred Sounds at 6:30 and a 2:30 Stained Glass Bluegrass matinee on Feb. 24.
