A Team Effort To Save Hanging Osprey

Thanks to the City of Orange Beach Fire Department, the staff at the Orange Beach Wildlife Center and Management Program, and home owner Jarot Scarbrough, an osprey that was entangled in a fishing net and dangling from a pine tree about 40 feet in the air is free to fish another day. “Please remember to properly dispose of fishing line, hooks, and netting,’’ the OBWC staff posted on facebook. “The majority of the netting was cut off. However, we believe there still could be some around the leg as we were unable to get our hands on the bird safely, considering its location. Hoping this bird makes a full recovery. But we do know that the bird would have surely been a goner if it wasn’t for OBFD assisting us in this rescue.’’
