Alabama to cut grocery tax another penny on Sept. 1
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed into law a one-cent grocery sales tax cut that will go into effect across the state on Sept. 1
The state also reduced its cut of the grocery tax by a penny in 2023, bringing the total reduction on the state sales tax on groceries from 4 percent to 2 percent.
“When we can reduce taxes in Alabama and provide some relief to the hardworking people of this state, I am all for it. I was pleased to sign House Bill 386 to take another notch off our state grocery tax,” Gov. Ivey said when announcing the tax cut.
