Baldwin County Genealogical Society meets Nov. 12 in Foley

The Baldwin County Genealogical Society will meet on Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. in the Foley Public Library second floor meeting room. Reservations are required and guests are welcome. Email BaldwinGenealogy@gmail. com with your name. Guest Speaker is Tracy D. Neely, President of Mobile Creole Cultural and Historical Preservation Society. Tracy will share the society’s mission and history of the Creole communities together. MCCHPS has been facilitating the research efforts of those exploring their ancestral connection to the Creole communities.
The Creole Settlements in Baldwin County are Bon Secour, Magnolia Springs and Fairhope. The MCCHPS is seeking information on the Creole communities, descendants, and family histories. More info: mobilecreolesociety.weebly.com.
In Baldwin County, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Cemetery in Magnolia Springs is the center of the Creole community. Several MCCHPS members have ancestors buried in the church cemetery. Other cemeteries that the Creole people may be buried are: Cook Cemetery in Bon Secour and Tatumville Cemetery in Fairhope. Baldwin County Genealogical Society meetings are open to all interested parties.
