Baldwin Pops play Dec. 5 show at Foley Civic Center

The Baldwin Pops Band will play a free Christmas concert in Foley on Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Foley Civic Center, located at 407 East Laurel Ave. (Hwy. 98).The concert is free, and tickets are not required.
Under the direction of Dr. Roger Jones, the Baldwin Pops Band will present favorite Christmas tunes, including Leroy Anderson’s A Christmas Festival and Christmas on Broadway, arranged by John Higgins. Older favorites include Greensleeves, arranged by Alfred Reed, and a modern fanfare, King of Kings, by Robert W. Smith, which is based on the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah.
Beth Hall will be featured as soloist on Antonio Vivaldi’s Piccolo Concerto in C Major. Beth is a full-time dressage music editor who holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from the University of Vermont and the University of Massachusetts.
Wayne Fillingim, band director at Fairhope High School, will sing You Lift Me Up by Josh Groban. He will also conduct Greensleeves.
Santa is scheduled to drop in for a short visit with the children during the concert. All concerts are free, however, a Toys for Tots representative from the U.S Marine Corps Reserve will be available at each concert to collect new unwrapped toys for those who wish to contribute. Baldwin Pops members come from all walks of life, but a common thread for all members is a love of music, the desire to perform and the ability to play.
