The expanded fest is presented by the Gulf Coast Arts Alliance and will include performances by the Poarch Creek Indians at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on March 7. Other attractions include local entertainment and delicious food. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will continue March 8 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Gulf State Park, 20115 State Hwy. 135 in Gulf Shores. There is no admission fee. Shuttles will be available from the Gulf State Pier. The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo will have exotic animals onsite and hands-on art experiences will allow children to let their creativity flow. The Poarch Band of Creek Indians, descendents of a segment of the original Creek Nation, have been an integral part of the Ballyhoo Fest since its inception. Unlike many southeastern Indian tribes, the Poarch Creeks were not removed from their tribal lands, and have lived together for over 150 years. The Poarch are the only federally recognized tribe in Alabama. They will provide historical narrative and will perform original tribal dance in ceremonial regalia. More info: ballyhoofestival.org
