Bicentennial Markers Going Up In Lillian

The Lillian Bicentennial Committee invites the community to the dedication of two markers as part of The Alabama Bicentennial celebration. The markers will be unveiled beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 4. The group will meet at the Lillian Boat Launch where the first marker will be dedicated. This marker will tell the history of Perdido Bay and the bridge that connects Alabama with Florida. The group will then move on to Santa Piedro Street in front of the first St. Joseph Catholic Church (pictured) that was originally constructed in 1929 on a lot on Kee Street. It was moved to its present location in 1941. The history of the church and Lillian will be represented on the marker. After this unveiling, the group will move to the Lillian Community Club where a reception will be held.
