Bornholt will talk Feb. 17 about Baldwin POW camps

The Baldwin County Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 17 at the VFW Post in Elberta, located at 24220 U. S Hwy 98. Guest speaker will be Jeanette Bornholt will talk about WWII POW camps in Alabama and Baldwin County (Camp Loxley and Camp Foley).
She will also tell “the rest of the story” of German U-Boats in the Gulf of Mexico, as well as other stories that are not recorded in the history of Baldwin County.
Bornholt, a native of Elberta, serves as the Genealogy Librarian at the Foley Library where she has worked for 27 years. This Library has the largest collection of family history in Baldwin County.
Jeanette is also an award-winning artist and yet finds time to assist her husband, Edward, in his beekeeping business. The Bornholts have three children, 16 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Come learn about a part of Baldwin County history still unknown by many. Light refreshments will be served.
