BuzzCatz Chef Asbury is Int. Biscuit Champion

Local chef Kimberly Asbury (pictured), pastry chef and manager at BuzzCatz Coffee & Sweets, was awarded the Grand Champion title at the eighth Annual International Biscuit Festival in Knoxville on Saturday, May 20. Her Alabama Scotch Egg Biscuit, which launched her to victory in the Special Category Competition and the Grand Prize, is now world famous.
“I and humbled and very proud to have won my first competition,” said Asbury. “I am so thankful for the love and support I have received from my staff and the creativity I am allowed to experience in my job.”
You can enjoy Asbury’s Alabama Scotch Egg, a buttermilk biscuit stuffed with hickory smoked Conecuh Sausage and a soft boiled egg topped with red onion jam, every Saturday and Sunday at BuzzCatz Coffee & Sweets on Canal Road in Orange Beach.
The Annual International Biscuit Festival draws thousands of people from around the country to downtown Knoxville for a chance to experience one of the most diverse and celebrated collections of biscuit bakers in the country. There are four categories of competition: Sweet Biscuits, Savory Biscuits, Special Biscuits and Student Biscuits. The Special category is for those biscuits that are over the top and incredibly imaginative.
