Williams is a former NFL running back and current football coach. He led Auburn to the 2004 SEC Championship. Drafted 5th overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2005, he became the first player in NFL history to have three consecutive 100-yard rushing games to start his career. He later coached at Auburn and most recently served as the running backs coach for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Williams served as Auburn’s interim head coach for the final four games of the 2022 season after the firing of head coach Bryan Harsin.
He was then retained on staff as the running backs coach and associate head coach under new head coach Hugh Freeze. However, in January 2024, Williams resigned to take an NFL job with the Raiders.
