Cancer Can Kiss My A$$ slated May 7-9 at SBCT

Cancer is the scariest word in the English language. It’s a word and a diagnosis that has touched us all.
Local playwright Laura Pfizenmayer (pictured) recruited a cast from the South Baldwin Community Theater to address the topic directly in “Cancer Can Kiss My A$$,” an original play that made its world premiere at SBCT on April 30.
The dramedy, which chronicles the journey of Jean’s battle and triumph over anal cancer, is based on Laura’s own story.
The play’s six run premiere in Gulf Shores includes 7:30 shows on May 7 & 8 and a 2:30 p.m. matinee on May 9. For tickets and more info, visit sbct.biz.
“During lockdown I wrote a dramadey recounting my own cancer journey and now South Baldwin is giving it a world premiere,’’ Laura said. “The theatre is thrilled to be welcoming back our patrons while still observing all COVID guidelines.’’
Directed by Jan Hinnen, the cast includes Ann Gaynor, Mel Middlebrooks, Barbara Campbell, Steve Henry, Rio Cordy and Robert Gardner.
Come on the journey with Jean and Joseph as they face her diagnosis and with pain, laughter, and love, watch them conquer and overcome.
