Cendy Hart named new OBES principal
Orange Beach City Schools has named Cendy Hart the new Principal of Orange Beach Elementary School. She succeeds Dr. Mary Catherine Law, who was promoted to Assistant Superintendent at last month’s board meeting. All leadership changes will take effect July 1, 2026.
Hart has served as Assistant Principal at OBES since 2016, where she played a central role in advancing OBES’s continued trajectory of excellence, including significant gains in student outcomes with ELA proficiency increasing from 76% to 88% and math proficiency from 66% to 83% over a two-year period. Chronic absenteeism was reduced by more than half, reflecting a strong culture of engagement and accountability. OBES has earned numerous recognitions during her tenure, including a 99 on the state report card, a National Blue Ribbon School designation, and recognition as one of the top elementary schools in Alabama.
Hart earned her undergrad degree at Auburn and her masters in elementary education at the University of Montevallo.
“Mrs. Hart has demonstrated an exceptional ability to lead with clarity, build strong systems, and most importantly, elevate both teaching and learning. We are confident that under her leadership, OBES will continue to set the standard for excellence in Alabama,” said Superintendent Randy Wilkes.
“I am incredibly honored to continue serving the Orange Beach community in this new administrative role, especially in a community I have called home for more than 16 years,” she said. “OBES has a strong tradition of excellence, and I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff, supportive families, and outstanding students to build upon that foundation.’’
