Coastal Triathlon, Bama Bounders Meet earn accolades

The Brett/Robinson Coastal Triathlon in Gulf Shores and the USA Gymnastics Region 8 Championships in Foley were recently recognized by Sports Destination Management, a national assn. for sports tourism professionals, with 2024 Champions of Economic Impact in Sports Tourism awards.
The Coastal Triathlon, an Alabama’s Beaches Sports event, produced 865 room nights and $468,048 in economic impact in 2024. The race included 455 first-time participants. Last April’s Bama Bounders hosted USA Gymnastics Region 8 Championships at the Foley Event Center included 1,150 athletes from throughout the Southeast. Foley Sports Tourism reported that the 4,700 spectators at the event booked 4,100 total room nights and had an economic impact of $1.14 million.
