GSHS grad Blaire Carlton needs three more treatments to finish

By Bethany Kottsick
Are there angels among us? Blaire Carlton and her family certainly think so.
Blaire is the 19-year old daughter of Toma and Darcie Carlton, owners of Flip Flop Deli in Gulf Shores. She was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer on July 30th 2019.
After her diagnosis she began chemotherapy in Little Rock, Arkansas. During one of her chemo treatments on August 9th she suffered a cardiac arrest, fell to the floor, and had to be intubated. To make matters worse her liver and adrenal gland was bleeding due to the fall.
Toma Carlton says, “She is getting stronger, but the 18 hour drive back and forth for treatment was very taxing for her so that is why we are so blessed to have you guys.”
From plane, pilot, fuel and other essentials, all has been generously donated by local prominent businessmen who regularly charter flights through Charter Air.

Stronger than this thing called C This is me! No filters. No editing out the patches or my chemo! No caring if my tooth is cracked or my little “go-go” baggie. This is God’s perfect little “hot mess.” I’m stronger than the devil ever will be. I’m stronger than this “thing called c” in me. I’m a “delusional” patient because, I know for a fact, my God wouldn’t bring me back to suffer. This is my story, my battle, mine. I’m loving every single minute of it.
