Orange Beach City Schools has named Dr. Mary Catherine Law, principal of Orange Beach Elementary School for the past five years, the district’s next assistant superintendent. She will officially begin her new district leadership role in July 2026.
Under her leadership, OBES was named a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School, earned a 99 on the Alabama State Report Card, was recognized as a Top 25 School in Alabama through the Legislative School Performance Recognition Program, received the Attorney General’s Silver Model of Enhanced School Safety Award, and was designated an Ocean Guardian School.
The school also achieved an extraordinary milestone as the only school to have two consecutive years in which 100% of third-grade students were reading at or above grade level.
“The work we have done at Orange
Beach Elementary over the past several years has been incredibly meaningful to me, and I am
excited to build on that foundation while continuing to serve a community that truly prioritizes children and their success,” she said.
Dr. Law earned her undergraduate degree in Communications from Auburn her master’s degree in elementary education from the University of South Alabama, and completed her
doctorate in educational leadership from Auburn.
“After reviewing several competitive applications and conducting multiple interviews, it became clear that the best person to serve our district in this role is one of our own,” said Superintendent Randy Wilkes. “Her vision, dedication, and understanding of our district’s culture make her the perfect fit to help lead Orange Beach City Schools into the future.”
