DUI suspect crashes on Hwy. 59 after police chase

Foley Police arrested 33 year-old Joseph Lineberry of Fairhope for DUI and felony eluding just before midnight on July 12 after he led fled officers conducting a traffic stop before crashing into a power pole and natural gas valve near the Abby Ln – Hwy. 59 intersection.
Police said the crash created a potential live electrical line hazard that could have been dangerous to responders and citizens responding to the crash.
On a final note, although we appreciate the heroic actions of citizens and sometimes off duty first responders, we ask that no one, especially while in plain clothes, go rushing into unknown situations such as this to render aid when the police have it surrounded or are already on scene,’’ Foley police posted following Lineberry’s arrest. “Please evaluate every scenario cautiously and listen to the officers that are on scene if you feel a need to intervene.’’
