Foley Woman’s Club presents charity checks totaling $20,000

The Foley Woman’s Club October meeting proved to be an exciting and rewarding one. Club President Kelly Barrett handed out checks totaling $20,000 to various organizations in Baldwin County that work to help women and children. The monies donated were raised at the 2018 Club’s Mad Hatters’ annual event. Organizations receiving donations were: Baldwin County Heritage Museum, Alabama Sheriff’s Boys Ranch, Liberty Church Backpack program, Klass Kids Baldwin County, Ecumenical Ministries, Foley Elementary School Library, Friends of Graham Creek Nature Preserve, Foley Public Library, Foley Middle School Library, Snook Youth Club, Jennifer Claire Moore rodeo sponsorship, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Foley Middle School Project Reach, Foley High School Scholarship program. The scholarships will actually be awarded at the March 2020 Mad Hatters’ Event.
After a lavish display of fall refreshments, the Club’s routine business was conducted. Revisions to the Bylaws were voted in by members. Volunteers were asked to sign up to help with the Foley Christmas parade float. The theme for the 2020 Mad Hatters’ event was announced as World of Books. Members were asked to select a book and decorate the table accordingly. For the November 4th meeting at St. Paul’s Episcopal fellowship hall members will being in non-perishable foods for Ecumenical Ministries. The 50/50 drawing was won by Gloria Welytok.
