Fundraiser for Innerarity native Cherry Fe Smith May 22
Purple Parrot hosts, numerous businesses support community event

Friends and family are gathering to raise funds for Innerarity Point icon Cherry Fe (Fowler) Smith, as she continues to battle against melanoma cancer.
A fundraiser organized by Cherry’s daughter Sarah Nell Ingersoll, niece Brittany Coffman, and sister Anita (Fowler) Gainer will be held for Cherry on Saturday, May 22 from 1-4 p.m. at the Purple Parrot Tiki Bar on Perdido Key, with owners Chris and Tracy Mull hosting.
The “party like a pirate” will include live music from John Fowler and others, a silent auction, a split-the-pot raffle, potluck refreshments and a pirate photo booth.
For more info or to find out what you can do to help, contact Brittany Coffman at 850-291-6846 or email bcoffman639@ gmail.com.
Silent auction items include gift certificates from, among other businesses, Sail Wildhearts and Pirate Adventures (where Cherry worked as a captain) and Wahoo Watersports. Restaurants such as The Breakfast Club, Pirates Cove, Perdido Sports Bar and The Purple Parrot have donated gift certificates. And local artists such as William Johnson, Black Eye Susie’s Studio and Lynn Gentry have donated their creations. The silent auction will also include lots of swag baskets.
“Dressing like a pirate is optional, but there will be lots of family and friends there, and it will be very family oriented,’’ said Anita Fowler, Cherry’s sister, who like her sister was raised on Innerarity Point as part of the Resmondo family.
“There will definitely be lots of food,’’ Fowler added.
Dee Sweets & Bakery will bring deserts. Master Chef Pete Gainer will prepare his specialties and Janice Mayo Glass will make her famous pulled pork.
