G.S. installs traffic radar devices

Gulf Shores is rolling out a state-of-the-art traffic management system at key intersections across the city to help with traffic flow. The advanced traffic signal technology is powered by the Centracs software platform and uses real-time data and smart analytics to automatically adjust traffic lights based on what’s actually happening at the time.
Small radar devices help detect vehicles (and even pedestrians) from a distance and feed that info back to the system, which is also designed to protect pedestrians in the busy beach areas. The goal is simple: safer crossings and fewer accidents.
