GlenLakes junior golf registration is open through June 5

Olivia Akins, Channing Cantu, Cayden Horton earn college scholarships

One of the top junior golf programs in the country, the GlenLakes Summer Junior Golf League, is accepting players until June 5 at noon or until the rosters are filled. The fee is $130 per player and includes five instructional clinics and five matches. Geared for both boys and girls, the clinic is open to ages 8-17 and beginners are allowed to compete in low pressure competitions. Top point winners from league play will be recognized.
Practice begins at 3 p.m. on June 9. Other practice days are June 16. June 23, July 7 and July 14. Matches start at 9:15 a.m. on June 10, June 17, June 24, July 8 and July 15. In order to become eligible, Junior Golfers must have participated in the GlenLakes – Junior Golf League.

GlenLakes is also offering junior golf clinics June 5-8, June 19-22 and and July 17-20. Open to juniors seven to 17, the clinics cost $150 per golfer for the four session scheduled from 8:30-9:30 a.m. each day.
GlenLakes presents scholarships to league participants each spring. The 2023 GlenLakes ccholarship winners were:
• Olivia Akins, Elberta High School: Olivia was a participant in our first GlenLakes Junior Golf League in 2019. She took lessons from David Musial, PGA General Manager at GlenLakes, and became the #1 Golfer on the Elberta High School, Girls Golf Team.
• Channing Cantu, Orange Beach High School: Channing joined our GlenLakes Junior Golf League in 2020. She took lessons from David Musial, PGA General Manager at GlenLakes, and was awarded a Golf Scholarship to Jefferson State College in Birmingham, Alabama. She played on the Orange Beach High School, Girls Golf Team since her family moved to Alabama.
• Cayden Horton, Foley High School: Cayden played for two seasons on the Foley High School, Varsity Boys Golf Team. Cayden was a winner of the Junior League – Stroke Play Tournament in 2023. Cayden takes lessons from David Musial, PGA, and aspires to play Collegiate golf. He joined the GlenLakes Junior Golf League in 2021.
