Gopher Tortoise 5K April 11 on GSP trails

Gulf State Park’s naturalists will host the inaugural Habitat Hustle: Saving Alabama’s Gopher Tortoise 5K ( 9 a.m.) and 1-Mile Fun Run (9:30 a.m.) on April 11 to benefit ongoing gopher tortoise research efforts within the park. The race will start and finish at the Hugh Branyon Trailhead at the Orange Beach Sportsplex (4385 William Silvers Pkwy.) in Orange Beach. Register at runsignup.com/Race/AL/OrangeBeach.
The event supports protection of Alabama’s only native tortoise species. Fun educational booths will be set up to help participants learn more about gopher tortoises and their unique habitat!
