GSPD arrest 109 underage drinkers at rowdy house party

Gulf Shores Police Dept. officers arrested 109 people, primarily stemming from a party at house on the 2400 block of West Beach Blvd. on Thursday, March 26.
While police were trying to determine who was responsible for the home, an officer had a large amount of beer poured on him from an upper balcony.
“The officer arrived to look into the situation, and he was standing outside, and a boy from the top balcony dumped beer on his head,” GSPD Police Chief Dan Netemeyer said.
Officers found large amounts of alcohol on the property and determined that most of those inside the home were under the legal drinking age before shutting down the party and making arrests.
Foley and Orange Beach Police assisted with transferring the suspects to jail.
“If they want to come here and be a part of a nice, family-friendly atmosphere, then we welcome them here,” Chief Netemeyer said. “But if they want to come here and be interruptive, there’s a large chance they will end up in jail like those did last night.”
“I can’t remember a time since I’ve worked here that we’ve had this many arrests at one location. I can’t believe that they put that many people inside of a beach house,” said Public Information Officer Carl Wittstruck.
A day earlier, officers responded to noise complaints on the 1300 block of West Beach Boulevard at around 11 p.m. and arrested 31 people for underage possession of alcohol.
“Our message has not changed: everyone is welcome to enjoy our beautiful beaches and the atmosphere Gulf Shores offers,” GSPD posted after those arrests.
“At the same time, our community, elected leaders, and the police department maintain a zero‑tolerance stance toward conduct that interferes with others’ ability to safely enjoy themselves. Respect for the law, for private property, and for fellow visitors is essential to keeping Gulf Shores a safe and enjoyable destination.’’
