GSPD asks tourists to leave only footprints, not guns
The Gulf Shores Police Department used the Share The Beach motto, “Leave Only Your Footprints,’’ to make a point about visitors leaving guns at short term rental properties.
On its Facebook page, GPSD called attention to the problem of visitors leaving firearms with this post:
“Remember the classic movie Home Alone? The moment when Kevin’s mom realizes they left him behind is funny on screen, but in real life, forgetful moments can have far more serious implications.
“Since March 1, 2025, we have responded 39 times to rental properties to recover firearms left behind. This discussion isn’t about gun rights or the constitution. It’s about responsibility preventing avoidable tragedies.
“As you pack up to head home, please remember the beach motto: Leave Only Footprints!”
