Kentucky Derby Party May 2 at Bon Secour’s Swift Coles Home

A Kentucky Derby Party party is scheduled on May 2 from 204 p.m. at the Swift Coles Historic Home in Bon Secour. A fundraiser for Swift Coles and the Baldwin Heritage Museum, the event will include vintage lawn games, refreshments, a hat contest and Kentucky Derby Fare.

Originally built by local Creole fisherman, Thomas Gavin, this property dates back to 1882. Although there aren’t any photos of the original four room dog-trot style cabin built there in 1882, there are multiple live oaks that mark the site of the original setting at the 6,000 square foot Tidewater Mansion completed in 1908 by the Swift Family. The Swift Coles Historic Home is open Wednesdays and Fridays for tours ($10 per person) from noon – 6 p.m.,with the last tour at 5 p.m. No reservations needed.
