L.A. Beach Writers meet May 8 at G.S. Library

Area writers, poets, editors and other publishing enthusiasts as well as writer “wanna bees” are invited to attend The L.A. Beach Writers monthly meeting on Monday, May 8 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Thomas B. Norton Library in Gulf Shores.
Guest speaker will be Joyce Farrell. Her topic will be “Editors: What they do, how to find them, and what to pay them.”
Ferrell is the author of 40 textbooks on computer programming logic and design and has worked with reviewers, developmental editors, and copy editors on those titles over the last 20 years. Additionally, she has written a novella published on amazon.com and has edited fiction and non-fiction manuscripts for multiple authors, most in the Gulf Shores area. She and her husband live half the year in central Wisconsin and half the year in Gulf Shores.
L.A. Beach Writers can also participate in advance of the meeting in a 300 word writing prompt contest: “Describe a time when you criticized someone else’s words, and a time when you have been criticized. With which are you more comfortable?”
Following the May meeting, the group will suspend for the summer. Members will be able to participate in writing prompts during June, July and August through the group’s website. This will enable them to keep active in their passion and craft. The group will reconvene in September for an enthusiastic kickoff.
Anyone with an interest in writing is invited to attend and bring a friend. For more info or to RSVP, call Linda Ray Center at 251-228-1656 or 251-233-3375 or email lindasondancer@ gmail.com.
