Last call for March 4-5 Ballyhoo Fest artists

By Eloise Thomley
The Ballyhoo Festival welcomes back the Poarch Creek Indians for our 9th Annual Ballyhoo Festival, March 4-5, 2023, Gulf State Park, Gulf Shores. This is a juried fine art festival with additional focus on cultural exchange. Artists applications will be accepted until December 31. To apply, visit www.ballyhoofestival.org
The Ballyhoo Festival features fine art, fine crafts and cultural exchange. The Poarch Creek Indians will share their history on Saturday, March 4 along with original tribal dance in ceremonial regalia. The meaning of each dance is described by the PCI Cultural Director, Chris Blackburn. This is a wonderful learning experience for children and adults.
On March 5, the Festival will feature Early Americana Appalachian music in the form of a Fiddle/Banjo Competition and bluegrass bands in partnership with FloraBama and the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival.
With more that 90 artists, great food, great music, kids art, and cultural experiences, the Ballyhoo Festival is one of the largest events in Coastal Alabama.
The Ballyhoo Festival is an event of the non-profit Gulf Coast Arts Alliance with office and Gallery at 225 E 24th Ave., Gulf Shores.
