The popular Sand, Songs, & Cinema series is returning to the Village Green at Gulf Place on the Gulf Shores beach for 2025. The event pairs live music with family-friendly movies shown outdoors on the Green at Gulf Place. The dates are June 3 and July 22, with the concerts starting at 6:30 p.m.. The June 3 event will showcase musician Lee Yankie paired with a screening of Moana 2. A Mobile native, Yankie has performed locally and nationwide for 20 years. His music blends southern sounds similar to the Allman Brothers with Caribbean reggae influences.
Yankie’s background includes six years as the lead guitarist with the Honey Island Swamp Band. His sets typically include blues, soul, classic rock and country music elements that reflect Gulf Coast culture.
The July 22 event will feature Baldwin County native Jesse Taylor Perry and the movie “Shark Tale.” Perry has developed his own soulful sound and will surely impress with his guitar skills.
Perry’s musical versatility stretches across many genres, and his performances bring people together and keep audiences guessing what song might come next.
The Gulf Shores Lions Club will sell food during both events. Attendees should bring blankets and lawn chairs for comfortable seating.
