Master Gardeners workshops in Fairhope

The Baldwin County Master Gardeners will host gardening workshops on March 18 and March 25 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Gulf Coast Research & Extension Center (8300 Hwy 104, Fairhope). Cost is $10 per workshop payable by cash or check at the door.
March 18: Nature based solutions in the landscape – Learn how to maximize your home landscape as a living system that supports biodiversity, filters storm water, provides food, creates shade, and brings a hosts of other benefits. Then a participatory design activity will cover guidelines and methods for laying out planting beds, walkways, water elements, and integrating native plants in landscapes.
March 25: The importance of using native plants – Examples of the best southern garden native plants will be presented with a discussion of their benefits to local pollinators and other wildlife. Discussion also will include some the worst invasive exotic plants and their negative impact on local habitats and wildlife.
