O.B. Elementary’s Cardwell is Baldwin’s Teacher of Year
Jennifer Cardwell, a sixth grade science and social studies teacher at Orange Beach Elementary School, was selected Baldwin County Public Schools Elementary Teacher of the Year at a March 26 banquet at the Grand Hotel.
Cardwell has taught elementary education for 18 years with experience in second, third, fifth and sixth grades.
She has been recognized as the Orange Beach Elementary Teacher of the Year, Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and was a Disney American Teacher Nominee in 2002.
She said she did not always know she wanted to be a teacher, but once she began, she quickly realized that she would gladly live the rest of her life in the classroom.
She believes teachers hold a powerful responsibility of educating the future citizens of our country, who will shape the world to come. She considers teaching a passion and a privilege.
Cardwell received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Alabama, Master’s Degree from Alabama A & M and her Educational Specialist Degree from the University of Alabama.
During the course of her career, she has helped colleagues as a School Technology Coordinator and Mentor, Grade Level Leader, Supervising Teacher, and Mentor Teacher and held many leadeship positions. She has also been recognized as the Madison County Schools Elementary Teacher of the Year.
