One OF World’s Largest Planes Lands at NAS Pensacola

A C-5 Galaxy with the U.S. Air Force’s 312th Airlift Squadron out of Travis Air Force Base landed at Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola at sunrise on April 18. The C-5 Galaxy was in Pensacola to will transport an Operation Desert Storm combat F/A-18 Hornet to the USS Hornet Museum in Alameda, California. The Hornet was disassembled and the wings removed prior to loading. Along with numerous aviation and cyber warfare training activities, NAS Pensacola maintains an operational airfield and deepwater port, preserving U.S. Armed Forces operational platforms. The Lockheed C-5 Galaxy is one of the largest aircraft ever constructed, the Lockheed C-5 Galaxy will transport an Operation Desert Storm-era combat F/A-18 Hornet from the National Naval Aviation Museum (NNAM) onboard NAS Pensacola to the USS Hornet Museum in Alameda, California.
