Operation ReConnect jeep raffle Nov. 10 at Tacky Jacks

The Operation ReConnect raffle for a one-of-a-kind, custom-built, hand-painted Jeep Wrangler named “We The People 2” will come to a conclusion on Nov. 11, Veterans Day when the official drawing for the vehicle will be held at Tacky Jacks in Orange Beach.
Operation ReConnect raises funds to provide vacations for military families who deal with combat deployments. The funds will be used to provide beach-front accommodations for 7-nights free to the families of returning Armed Services combat vets in every branch and rank.
Raffle tickets are $20 for 1 ticket; $100 for 10 tickets or $500 for 50 tickets. Tickets are on sale at operationreconnect.org or facebook or by calling 251-301-6808.
Operation ReConnect was established to assist in reducing the disconnect that comes from multiple-month deployments.
“Balancing military responsibilities along with daily family situations can be tough for both the deployed member and the family who remained behind. This is why providing this program not only to veterans but the family members is our main focus,’’ said Ryan Charrier, who founded the non-profit soon after his first deployment to Afghanistan in 2014.
“A fellow service member brought to my attention that he and his family had never been on a true family vacation. With that information, I brought in a network of incredible people from Coastal Alabama and together we provided this family a free vacation to the Gulf Coast.
“At that moment, I realized it was my responsibility to take on the much neglected opportunity to help all combat veterans returning from a deployed environment,’’ he added.
Charrier said he is honored to serve those who are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice so we may all enjoy freedom by providing the gift of time to service-members and their Families by providing accommodations along the beaches of the Gulf Coast that allows for an uninterrupted week for families to ReConnect.
